Recipe Time: Tea to Improve Skin Health & Appearance
By Cherry Sister, Alexandra Yado
Why healthy skin starts on the inside?
Just like popular belief, Korean culture deeply believes your skin reflects your gut health and the dietary habits you have daily. For example, every time someone eats ramen, or ramyeon, Koreans will say their face is “puffy” or swollen, because of the high levels of sodium ramen contains. BLACKPINK JISOO has admitted eating ramen before a photoshoot to appear “puffy” and with a more adorable and innocent face.
Koreans also believe in the power of food to improve gut health and hence skin health as well. Food is energy, and it promotes mental and physical well-being. If we have energy and feel physically our best, we will feel upbeat and mentally our best. During my young adult years, skin appearance played, and still plays, a big part of my self-confidence levels and mental well-being. That is why we not only want to share with our Cherries the skincare habits we have, but the extra steps we, the Cherry Sisters, take to further improve our overall health and skin health. We believe skin health should be attainable for everyone.
This tea recipe has been inspired from @glowwithava, a digital content creator from New York City. She is from South Korean descent and was taught by her mother to always promote gut health with healthy food habits to keep a #JELLOSKIN, as she refers to a plump, glowy and healthy-looking skin. She has several tea recipes, but we chose this recipe because ingredients are easy to obtain on this part of the world, and it also focuses on immunity health.
